 Who Are We? ICI has been an insurance agency in El Dorado, Kansas since 1885, having been formed by a 1982 merger between two long-standing firms, J.C. Hoyt & Co. and Bacon Insurance, Inc., to create Insurance Center, Inc. We represent over 100 markets, and are licensed in 24 states while helping over 3,000 clients. Our customers tell us they like doing business with ICI, because they feel they have a friend in the insurance business. With 3 locations, and a staff of 21 professional, dedicated people, we have a strong commitment to being there when you need us most. They also want good product design, financial stability and prompt claims service.  Thomas V. Murry, CIC - Broker , president of ICI, has
been in the insurance business since 1977. He
graduated from Pittsburg State University, with a
Masters in Business Administration. He has
continued his education in the insurance industry
by completing the prestigious Certified Insurance
Counselor (CIC) program, which he has held since
1983. He has also completed the Life Underwriters
Training Council (LUTC), and has attended dozens
of seminars over the years. Tom has recently
completed serving a term as President of the
Kansas Association of Insurance Agents (KAIA) in
October 2001. This organization represents over
1,000 Independent Agents in the State of Kansas,
and is affiliated with the Independent Insurance
Agents of America (IIAA). As a member of the Board
of Governors for the KAIA since 1990, he has been
chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Task Force,
Agency Company Relations, Legislative Affairs and
Convention Committees. Tom was the President of
Agency Services Corporation of Kansas (the
marketing division of KAIA). He has also taught
several continuing education classes for the
association. In 1996 Tom was presented the
prestigious Agent of Merit Award by the Kansas
Insurance Association. In 1997 Allied Life honored
Tom as the #1 Life Insurance Agent in the United
States. James L. Clennan, CIC - Broker, Past
President of ICI from 1981 to 2001. Jim started
his career with Commercial Credit Corp in 1956,
served in the U.S. Army (Korea) and returned to
civilian life in 1960. He joined a general
insurance agency that year in El Dorado, Ks. He
served as President of El Dorado Independent
Agents Board. He purchased an interest in Bacon
Insurance in 1970 then acquired the remaining
stock in 1980. Received his CIC Designation in
1981 and has attended continuing education classes
since 1961. Jim takes pride in his many years of
providing insurance services for the many diverse
clients the agency serves today. Quality service
to the agency clients and giving something back to
the community is Jim’s #1 PRIORITY!  Dustin J. Davis, CIC - Broker, has been with
ICI since 1999. He graduated
from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors
degree. He has continued his education in the
insurance business by completing the requirements
for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He
has also attended numerous seminars and
conferences throughout his insurance career. This
continuing education will enable Dusty to advance
and gain valuable knowledge in the ever-changing
insurance industry. He is also currently Vice
President of the Young Agents Committee and is
involved in the Kansas Association of Insurance
Agents. Michael Engelmann, AAI, ARM - Broker has been in the insurance
business since 1972. He graduated from the
University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in
Business Administration. Michael joined Commercial
Union Insurance Company in Omaha and after
graduation transferred to Kansas City. He
transferred to Wichita in 1973 as a field
marketing representative. In 1982, Michael joined
Continental Insurance Company and in 1986, he
joined USF&G Insurance. After USF&G closed their
Wichita branch office in 1992, Michael joined
Insurance Center Inc. as a commercial lines
producer. During his time with the insurance
companies and Insurance Center, Michael continued
his insurance education by passing a number of
insurance courses. Michael has achieved the Life
Underwriters Training Council (LUTC) designation,
the Associate in Management (AIM) designation, the
Associate in Underwriting (AU) designation, the
Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designation
and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
designation. Michael served as president of the
Kansas Insurance Association in 1979-1980, and
taught a number of insurance courses during the
1970s and 1980s. He was named “Field man of the
Year” in 1992 by the Kansas Agents Association.
Michael works in ICI’s Derby service office where
he writes all types of business insurance as well
as life, health and disability income insurance. Lonnie Currier, CIC - Broker,
has been with ICI since 2002 working in property and casualty as well as life and health. Specializing in commercial insurance, Lonnie graduated from The University of Wyoming with a Bachelor's degree in Education and was a wrestling letterman. He has taught carpentry and math at area high schools including Circle, Wichita Southeast, and El Dorado for sixteen years. He coached football for 13 and wrestling for 15 years. Lonnie has continued his education in the insurance business by completing the prestigous Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) training and testing seminars. This continuing education will enable Lonnie to gain valuable knowledge in the ever changing insurance industry. He is actively involved in the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents, El Dorado Crime Stoppers, EHS Booster Club and Wichita Area Builders Association. |
